Dr. Ress trademarks 'Hand Lift'

Boca Raton News features Dr. Ress' innovative procedure

New, younger looking hands are now possible thanks to Dr. Ress' trademark hand lift procedure.

"Before, women with fresh, youthful faces gave away their age secret through the appearance of their hands," says Dr. Ress.

"And yet, it's an area that's largely been overlooked in plastic surgery. I don't know of another plastic surgeon in South Florida who is doing hand lifts.

Signs of aging on the hands include brown spots and sun damage to the skin. Also as people age, the fat in the hand overlying the tendons thins out and atrophies, leaving the blood vessels visible and giving the hand a very sharp look with outlines of the bones prominent..."

Dr. Ress says the corrective procedure is eared to the condition of the hands. The brown spots can be fated out. Fat from the person's own body (stomach, leg or buttocks) can be transplanted into the hands to replace what has been lost there.

Sections of the saggy skin can be removed and the remainder tightened.

The result is firmer, younger looking hands.

Introduction

The Sub-specialty of Hand Surgery requires extreme devotion to detail and delicate treatment of the internal structures. Dr. Ress is Fellowship Trained in Hand Surgery, one of nine doctors in the county with such training and the only plastic surgeon- hand surgeon trained in orthopedics in the area.

Dr. Ress has applied his interest in cosmetic procedures to his knowledge of the hands and created the procedure known as a Hand Lift ™. Every woman knows that the clear giveaway of a woman’s age is the appearance of her hands.

Patients as far away as San Francisco have come to Boca Raton for the Hand Lift™ procedure.

The Cosmetic Hand Evaluation

All the elements of the hand are taken into consideration: the skin itself (skin laxness, discoloration and sun damage, skin elasticity and moisture content), the veins, and the prominence of the hand bones. Many women lose the fullness or fatty tissues beneath the skin around the time of menopause.

Each of these individual elements is addressed one by one. Volume is replaced by using a patient’s own fat or with a substitute filler such as Sculptra™. Sun damage and freckles are treated with aggressive skin care and bleaching and sometimes light chemical peels or Fraxel™.
For the most severe cases Dr. Ress recommends a Hand Lift™ procedure.

The Hand Lift™ Procedure

A Hand Lift™ is undertaken in an outpatient setting under local anesthesia. The excess hand and wrist skin is removed from the top of the wrist. Deep support stitches are placed in order to give a longer lasting result. The scar is generally heals as a thin line easily covered by makeup or jewelry.

Recovery and Healing.

After the operation elevation of the hand and wearing a splint are important in order to reduce swelling. Stitches dissolve on their own. A special pad may need to worn for several weeks over the incision in order to reduce scarring. Return of function is possible within a week and active sports such as tennis can be resumed after six weeks

Cost of surgery.

At the time of your initial consultation you will be quoted a price of Dr. Ress’ fee. Fees are due in full at least two weeks prior to surgery and a security deposit will reserve a specific time and date for your surgery.
